MOTA

It’s always a pleasure to make emblems for people who are very dear to me! This one was submitted by my friend Melissa and it hails from different parts of Europe. While the specific origins are unknown, it traveled through Brazil and ended up in Dominican Republic. I used the sparrow and olive tree branches for their religious significance in the Bible, and their connection to this specific family.

CARREÓN

Origin: Spain, France. Common in Latin America, yet this specific family hails from Monterrey, Mexico. The plant detail is based on the Wisteria Blossom, that symbolizes determination. These colors are a bit outside of my comfort zone, but I am starting to appreciate the challenge of designing with a predetermined color palette.

Originally known as MacNeil.
Origin: Isle of Barra, Scotland. 
Motto: Victory or Death. (also, Conquer or Die)

Also, have you seen this castle? This is the famous Kisimul Castle, where the MacNeil Clan chiefs congregate. Amazing.

Our  first last name is originally from Valladolid, Spain. The last name comes from a town with the same name, Uruena. This town has a gorgeous Castle and tons of interesting things happened there throughout the years.
